The specific techniques used will depend on each patient's specific condition and comfort level, and all treatment programs will be coupled with a specific rehabilitative exercise program that fits the needs and goals of each patient, our chiropractors can also use contemporary medical acupuncture for treatments.

Physiotherapy involves a wide variety of treatment interventions that aim to decrease pain while restoring and maintaining function, mobility, and general well-being. Each personalized treatment program is often achieved through a combination of hands-on manual therapy, therapeutic modalities, rehabilitative exercises, and education. Physiotherapy is suitable for all ages and is used to treat a wide variety of conditions including but not limited to, acute injuries, chronic conditions, pre- and post-operative procedures, and concussions. Physiotherapy provides education on preventing further injuries, empowers patients to take control of their physical rehabilitation, while promoting health and fitness.

Dr. Jared Barrieau graduated from the University of Waterloo with an honours degree in Kinesiology. He later graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto while earning additional accreditations in Functional Integrated Acupuncture.

As a firm believer in providing evidence based, patient centred care, Dr. Barrieau provides a number of services that are carefully tailored towards each individual’s needs. A treatment with Dr. Barrieau may include soft tissue therapy, adjustments/mobilizations, acupuncture, therapeutic exercises, lifestyle advice and education geared towards improving health, fitness and well-being.

Having a passion for sports, Dr. Barrieau has been a team trainer for the Greater Toronto Hockey League, Ontario Football Conference, and Trent University Athletics. Along with his clinical work, Dr. Barrieau currently coaches Junior Competitive Rowing out of the Peterborough Rowing Club.

Dr. Dan Calow grew up in Peterborough where he was an avid participant in the Peterborough athletics community, playing all kinds of sports like hockey, football, rugby and lacrosse. His interest in performance and movement led him to Ottawa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa in 2011. His passion for movement, rehab, and therapy combined with his experiences in chiropractic as a high school football player, led him to pursuing a career in chiropractic. In June 2015 he graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. Along the way he received his accreditation as a Contemporary Medical Acupuncture provider from the McMaster University Contemporary Acupuncture program. His goal is to improve the lifestyle of every patient by reducing pain, improving movement, and maximizing function using conservative, drug-free therapy techniques. His focus is on assessing, diagnosing, and devising individualized care plans to treat conditions and injuries to the muscles, joints, and nerves of the body. Because of his background, he has a special interest in working with athletes for injury prevention, return to play, and optimizing performance, but he believes all patients are athletes as physical activity and movement are key to a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Shayla Conrad, originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University. During her time at Dalhousie Dr. Conrad focused on human anatomy, exercise physiology and biomechanics. While working closely with sports teams, she became inspired to study further and become a chiropractor. Following her undergrad, she moved to Toronto to complete her doctorate in chiropractic medicine at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College where she graduated in 2016 with clinical honors. During her time in Chiropractic College she completed the McMaster University Contemporary Acupuncture program allowing her to broaden her manual therapy knowledge and skills in order to provide other treatment options for her patients. Dr. Conrad provides evidence based care by incorporating a variety of techniques which she utilizes to help patients restore lost function and movement, as well as aid in injury prevention. She takes an individualized approach with each patient, treating conditions or functional issues with a combination of soft tissue therapy, joint mobilizations, joint manipulations, rehab programs and education as well as other therapeutic devices. She combines these methods in the best way possible to provide care for her patients to feel better and live an active, healthy lifestyle.

Shaun Lauzon went to Western University where he completed his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy as well as his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.

Shaun grew up in Peterborough where he first discovered his passion for athletics and exercise science. He enjoys playing most sports but particularly likes football, soccer, basketball and just about anything involving a racket. He found his inspiration to become a physiotherapist during his time participating on Western University’s varsity football team and playing high level soccer in the Ontario Soccer League. He experienced first-hand the impact that physiotherapy can have on individuals and their communities when it comes to improving physical and mental health.

Although his passion for physiotherapy stems from high level athletics, Shaun is knowledgeable treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions across all age groups. Such conditions include but are not limited to acute injuries, chronic conditions, pre- and post-operative procedures, and has a keen interest in concussion rehabilitation.

Shaun’s treatment focusses on reducing pain, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, education and maximizing function. He is excited to work with you to create a personalized treatment program that meets your goals and helps you get back to the activities that are most meaningful to you!

Josh is a Registered Massage Therapist since 2004, completing his training at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough, graduating with honours. Josh is also a Medical Acupuncture provider through the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program. Currently he is the lead Canadian Instructor with Dynamic Tape, is a Certified Candidate and Past Ontario Chapter President with the CSMTA (Canadian Sports Massage Therapists Association), and a recognized Service Provider for the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario. Josh also provides Soft Tissue Release, Therapeutic Ultrasound, Along with his clinical work, Josh is currently the Head Trainer for the Peterborough Lakers Lacrosse Team (2012/2017/2018 Mann Cup Champions), and is a therapist with the Canadian National Men’s 15 Rugby Team. His ultimate goal is to serve and educate Peterborough and surrounding communities in the benefits of integrated therapy and therapeutic massage in order for them to achieve their peak potential. His experiences range from treating minor and amateur athletes, to treating elite Olympic athletes. He has been a therapist involved with major sporting events across Ontario, Canada and Europe. Dr. Chelsea McQuade grew up in a small town just outside of Peterborough called Port Perry. Growing up Dr. McQuade had a passion for human anatomy and learning all about the human body. She was often referred to as the ‘team doc’ while playing sports when her teammates became injured. As a result of her passion with human movement and playing sports, she ended up at Ontario Tech University where she graduated with a Bachelors of Health Science in Kinesiology. Following working with the Varsity hockey team at her university she knew she wanted to continue her career as a rehab specialist. Dr. McQuade attended Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto where she graduated with Summa Cum Laude in 2022. She has an extensive background in working with athletes and treating sports injuries as a result of working with a number of sporting teams and organizations including Major Series Lacrosse, Varsity Hockey, League One Soccer, OPDL, Rugby Ontario, and our local OHL team the Peterborough Petes. Dr. McQuade currently works with the Petes as their official Chiropractor.

Throughout her education, Dr. McQuade furthered her knowledge by becoming certified with Integrated Needling Acupuncture and First Responder and CPR. She also took courses involved in Concussion Management and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization. Her goal is to provide evidence-based care to her patients using a variety of treatment techniques including but not limited to soft tissue therapy, spinal manipulation and mobilization, acupuncture, exercise, nutrition/lifestyle advice, and much more!
